With the advent of a number of electronic, print and web media organizations, the demand for trained media professionals has increased manifold during recent years. The manpower need is going to be high in these fields in the years to come.

- Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), JNU Campus, New Delhi run by Union Ministry of Mass communication and Broadcasting offers PG Diploma course in English & Hindi journalism besides one in advertising and public relations. Its branch at Dhenkanal in Orissa also runs a course in English and Oriya journalism.
- Jamia Milia Islamia University, New Delhi, offers Master’s course in journalism and mass communication, electronic media and convergent journalism, besides a diploma course in development communications.
- The Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahemdabad, runs specialized study programmes in advertising management and marketing communications. The admission is through CAT.
- The Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) offers study programme in film direction, editing and other such technical fields.
- Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute, Kolkata runs technical courses in film production.
- The Lakhmibai National Institute of Physical Education, Gwalior, offers a course in sports journalism while NIFT, Delhi, runs a course in fashion communication.
- The Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication offers study programme in the print and electronic media as well as corporate communication. Manipal University also offers a course in corporate communication.
